How to turn on lights in a new home when fuse box does not help.?

Question by CRP: How to turn on lights in a new home when fuse box does not help.?
I have a new townhouse, a little over a year old. Our one bathroom and the kitchen lights went out. The appliances still work. I went to the fuse box and switched every switch and still nothing. What else do I do?

I wonder if the GFCI (ground fault circuit interruptor) is tripped. If so there are some wire errors but first confirm this. The GFCI outlet is a duplex outlet, probably in the bathroom. Between the two outlets, there are 2 buttons, one usually labeled T for test and the other R for reset. Push in the T and then push in R to reset. If this does the trick, you are in business. Now get the electrician to properly wire things as the lights should not be on the GFCI circuit.
